Countdown to Allure: One More Month

Allure of the Seas’ delivery is a month away.  For many on our team, the preparations are getting more intense.  For me, they’re getting more enjoyable.  Here are two recent examples:

September 17th was a proud day for our Entertainment team.  They summoned us to Nova Southeastern University for the run through of Blue Planet, the phenomenal show that will share the main theater on Allure of the Seas with Chicago the Musical.  Even without the costumes or sets it was dazzling to take in the singing, dancing, flying, trampoline jumping, and everything else that is in the show.  I’ve said in my comments to the audience that we used to wonder if we could ever be as good as Broadway.  Now I think the question may be, can Broadway do the things we do?  A Broadway musical doesn’t have to share the same stage with another show so that all the sets have to disappear and not get in the way of each other.  Not to mention that the talent doesn’t have to perform at an extremely high level in multiple productions simultaneously.  And the extra cost to the guest: zero.

As an aside, the Entertainment team had some of the DreamWorks characters at the run through.  I think the head of the lion’s costume from Madagascar must be at least one gross registered ton.

Moving to the culinary world at the risk of the readers thinking all we do is sample our cruise fare every day (that is, when we’re not watching shows), we recently had lunch in the test kitchen to try the menu from 150 Central Park on Allure of the Seas.  You may remember that Molly Brandt recently won a contest that we co-sponsored with the Culinary Institute of America to be the inaugural chef in our top of the line specialty restaurant that has been such a hit on Oasis of the Seas.  Well, now we know why Molly won – she’s an amazing chef.  I won’t spill the beans on the menu items but I will say that the concept, the presentation, and the taste will be a real treat for our guests.  Plus, Molly is a pleasure to be around and we hope many of our readers get a chance to meet her and have the 150 Central Park experience.

I can hardly wait….going on the inaugural voyage on my birthday. What a special surprise from my husband!!!!

  2. John Stevens

Wow, Molly Brandt! We met Molly at 150 Park Ave on the OASIS. The meal was outstanding, and she was a delightful lady to speak with. A great combination, and outstanding Chef, and a warm friendly personality. The Allure experinece will be even better with Molly on board!

…I read somewhere that the maiden voyage of the Allure of the Seas is Dec 5 2010 or is it Dec 1 2010…

  4. Jackie

All the shows we have ever seen on any of our cruises have been spectacular. RCCL goes far beyond our expectations everytime another ship is designed and the shows are announced. I would say that very soon, Broadway is going to come to your production companies and ask for your help.
Can’t wait to join the WOW on Allure of Seas November 2011.

  5. Michael H

Thanks for the continued updates on Allure. We can hardly wait for December 1st. We’ve already booked dinner at 150 Central Park for my birthday. Living outside NYC the CIA is a regular visit for us. It’s amazing what a wonderful meal you can get for such a great price at all of their restaurants. They turn out some truly talented chefs. And the students, who also serve as the wait staff, are always so warm and welcoming. They really work hard. In and out of the kitchen. Can’t wait to enjoy Molly’s creations.

  6. Janet Spencer

The pic of the ship looks great. Can’t wait to sail Jan 9, 2011. I am sure that hubby will say this is the best birthday gift he has ever recieved! I hope LOL

    • Adam

Janet, we think your husband will definitely love all the great activities onboard, as well as the great time you two will have together with us. We can’t wait to see you in January.

  7. Kelly Budnovich

Just got off the Oasis of the Seas last Sat. A very sad day. That was the most amazing ship. We are already set to sail on the Allure next Sept. Can’t wait! Oasis was the best ship and vacation EVER so I know Allure will only be better! RCCL surpasses all other lines we have sailed with. We are proud Platinum Crown and Anchor members.

    • Adam

Kelly, thank you for the kind words. We are very proud of the Oasis, and are delighted to hear you had such a great time. It is just as sad for us to have our guests leave us, but rest assured we definitely look forward to seeing you again on your next cruise on the Allure in September.

I was watching the video of The Blue Planet run through, and all I can say is WOW, without doubt Paul Hardy and the team he works with have done an amazing job. I am so pleased that I will be one of the first to see this incredible show, we will be on The Allure for its first sailings. Please keep up the good work, the entertainment is just one of the reasons that Royal is our preferred cruiseline, and as such we are D+ members.

    • Adam

Chip, we completely agree that The Blue Planet is an amazing acrobatic show with a very important message as well. We’re happy to hear you are as excited about it as we are, and we cannot wait to have you onboard with us on the Allure.

  9. lee

Allure is identical to Oasis is it not ?

    • Adam

Excellent question Lee. Although the Allure and her sister ship the Oasis share the record for the largest cruise ship in the world, there are subtle differences that set them apart from each other. Allure of the Seas will feature her own special personality that includes incredible new entertainment, restaurants and retail shops! Some of these include the DreamWorks Experience, the first Britto store at sea, the Tony Award-winning Broadway Show Chicago: The Musical, as well as the aerial theatrical masterpiece Blue Planet. You can get the latest updates on the latest features onboard the Allure’s here: http://bit.ly/aOotz9

  10. Ken Slusser

We are booked back-to back on the Allure – Dec 1st innagural and Dec 5th sailing. My wife, son (13) and daughter (11) are so excited about this trip. It’s only our 3rd cruise (second as a family) and we hope it’s the best one yet.

    • Adam

Ken, we are happy to hear that we will be seeing you onboard with us during the Allure’s first sailings. There are so many great shows and onboard activities, we are sure there is something that everyone in your family will enjoy.

  11. S. Sherrod

I am so very excited to be introduced to the “Oasis Of The Seas” November 27, 2010. My husband and I have sailed with Royal Caribbean, Carnival, and Princess; and grant it, each and every cruise is wonderful, but RCCL is by far my favorite. Adam, I for one, am very proud of you. Keep up the good work.

    • Adam

Sonya, thank you so very much for the kind words. We are delighted and honored to hear that we are your cruise of choice. We know what it takes to make a cruise memorable and we always strive to deliver this “WOW” factor. Thank you again, and we are looking forward to seeing you with us on November 27th.

  12. yVONNE bOIKE

Well, my Honey and I are getting ready for our 8th Cruise on Royal Caribbean, We will be on Cruising on Liberty in Dec. and then
Serenade in May, After that I think we will try the Oasis Allure Experience…..

    • Adam

Thank you for choosing Royal Caribbean for the 8th time Owen. We definitely recommend going onboard Oasis of the Seas, or Allure of the Seas, when you have the opportunity. In the mean time, we will be looking forward to seeing you this December onboard Liberty of the Seas.

  14. JAMES

I read somewhere that some of the new features of the Allure will be coming to the Oasis. What will change on the Oasis? I’m booked on Oasis Sept 10th 2011.

    • Adam

James, we are thrilled to know you will be onboard Oasis of the Seas on September 10th, 2011. The DreamWorks Experience will now also be on Oasis of the Seas come February 26th, 2011. We know you will enjoy this great addition in entertainment.
