Happy New Year from Everyone at Royal Caribbean International

Happy New Year and welcome to 2010 everyone. I wish all of the readers a happy, healthy and prosperous year with at least one cruise in it.

We are just a few days away from the so-called “Wave” booking season when a somewhat disproportionately high % of our annual bookings are made. The reason for this phenomenon is rooted in people emerging from their winter holidays and wanting to get their next vacation on the books. It helps if the weather is unseasonably cold for a while and people suddenly want to get the heck out of the cold north. Even if they cannot escape right away it’s comforting to know they will eventually get to warmer weather.

Oasis of the Seas
had a very successful holiday period and should now settle into a normal routine. We appear to have survived the supreme test of our Chairman Richard Fain and his extended family cruising on Oasis last week. I will hear all the details on Monday. In case you were wondering if I was onboard too to celebrate my 50th birthday, the answer is no. I was at a youth soccer tournament in Tampa.

Before we turn the page on 2009 altogether, I want to thank all of the guests who cruised on our fleet during the holiday season. I hope you enjoyed the vacation as much as you were hoping to do if not even more. It was our pleasure to serve you.

Just a quick thought. In reviewing a year you should thank all that sailed with you for the entire year and not just the holiday season. Glad to see your year went well. I wish all of you the best in 2010. I thank you for making our cruise on the Jewel of the Seas in October a great one. We will cruise again in 2010 and are looking at all the possibilities at the moment.

Happy new year to all. We were on Serenade in sept on a 14b day repo cruise to Alaska. One of our best cruises due to the itinery and mostly the crew. This was our third time on Serenade. We have done a few RCL cruises out of N.Y. in the summer months and would like to do a winter cruise . We heard that Exlorer was in dry dock and we were wondering why.We also heard that there was a possibility that there might be a way to dome the solerium pool. Is there any truth to this? Thank you we will be on Oasis in sept.

Happy new year for you and RCI.Welcome to China again.Well,my new year’s dream is to work in your company as soon as posible.Even if I have tried hundreds of time to ask your hiring partner to give me a chance to receive your interview, but they always turned me down for the reason that I am just 20.I feel sad why my DOB is 1989.05.02.But my foreign friends always joke that my emotional age is up to 25. I don’t like to waste time.Well,I heard you will come to wuhan in Jan.20,could you give a chance? What’s more,I was born in xiamen, which is a beautiful sea town.I like the seas, beach and a variety of seafood. If you and your family have interests,I will show you around my hometown. It’s a heaven.Smile for you.

Any chance you will be offering a Murder Mystery Dinner on the Oasis like you have on the Freedom? This was one of our favorite dining experiences when we sailed on the Freedom. At one time it was being offered on the Oasis; however, friends who have sailed said it was no longer being offered. Please bring this activity back. We have no problem paying extra for a great dinner and very fun evening.

Nation of Why Not…..I would like to bring that phrase under the microscope a bit. Sorry for choosing this place and venue to have this discussion, but repeated e-mails and calls have gone unresolved since 2006 and this seems like a good place to bring things out in the open since we are looking at the positives and moving forward into 2010. I too would like to look at the positives and put to rest the negatives and give this whole Royal Caribbean experience another try but first we need to address the problems that occured on our last cruise.

We have been trying to correct these issues since 2006. I have contacted customer service via e-mail, phone and written correspondance. I have used a third part mediator service through the better business bureau and still no resolution. At no time has the issue even been allowed to be escalated to the next level, just a form letter or response from a entry level customer service rep with no chance to move up the ladder into coporate management to air my valid concerns.

I do not want to go into detail here as this is not the time or place, I just want an opportunity to talk things over with you Mr Goldstein or you Mr Fain or somebody in the organization capable of making a decision and taking actions to correct the problems. Not the pad line “We are sorry about the inconvience but there is really nothing we can do about it.”

For a summary of the situation you can visit my articles locate in the URL listed with my submission. But I can release more specific information upon discussion with you personally.

You offer a great line and product. What occured with us, I am hoping is a rarity and not the norm. But what we experienced from onboard to today is a direct opposite of your company’s Mission Statement and that I find troubling.

I look forward to hearing from you and working to make this right. Thanks for your time.
