Hello, everyone. Last week I had the pleasure of being in Las Vegas where we announced the amazing entertainment program that will be on Quantum of the Seas. Our Entertainment team, led by Nick Weir, Vice President of Entertainment for Royal Caribbean International, has been managing through every creative and operational detail of the Quantum entertainment experience for over two years now, and we are all thrilled to have finally shared it with everyone.
Quantum of the Seas and Anthem of the Seas, are prepared to deliver an entertainment experience that transcends anything you’ve ever seen before – on land or at sea. We have an array of first of their kind productions, performances, and technology that will leave audiences spellbound.
Here are some of the highlights:
In Two70°, a multi-level “living” room, we will introduce a new form of multidimensional and high definition entertainment that fuses technology with highly trained live performers, aerialists and musicians, stunning visuals and special effects. The entertainment and activity takes place throughout the room, immersing guests in this surprising, delightful and powerful experience.
Technology is at the forefront of the entertainment in Two70º and can be felt throughout the entire space, with two features that have never been seen before, Vistarama, a complex seamless video projection system that transforms Two70°’s signature three story glass walls into a showcase for dramatic digital mapping content and multimedia shows. The content being programmed for Vistarama is all original content and will take our guests to new and interesting places. It has to be seen and heard to be believed.
Additionally, our Roboscreens are six massive 100 inch screens connected to robotic arms, and they will be affixed to a moveable gantry that is in the ceiling and will deliver even more customized digital content and dynamic Roboshows. The Roboscreens are choreographed to music and can dance together with live entertainers.
The combination of Vistarama and Roboscreens, along with our highly trained live performers, makes it possible to create stunningly visual, first-of-their-kind shows that can only be seen on Quantum of the Seas.
The Royal Theater is home to the two main shows presented by Royal Caribbean Productions. Sonic Odyssey is a sophisticated and immersive show that takes guests on a highly visual and experiential journey of music, sound and performance. The show was inspired by performance artist William Close and his variety of one-of-a-kind majestic instruments, but this show is totally original to Quantum of the Seas and not available anywhere else in the world. Also, we are extending the Royal Caribbean Broadway at Sea SM offering with the full 2½ hour theatrical version of the smash hit musical Mamma Mia!
Music Hall is our third venue dedicated to live music and Entertainment! Guests will have a wide range of live music opportunities from house bands and tribute bands, to fully produced late night parties and events.
I suppose you can tell that I feel Royal Caribbean has the best, and most revolutionary entertainment at sea, and now on land. As with our other ships, there will be no charge for entertainment on Quantum of the Seas, which is just one of the reasons why a cruise vacation with us is an incredible value.
We were able to share even more details about Quantum entertainment during a Google Hangout with Kristin Chenoweth, the Godmother and Entertainment Advisor to Quantum of the Seas, and Nick Weir. If you want to learn more you can watch it here.
Kristin was also with us when we presented highlights at a recent travel agent conference. The travel agents were very excited with the announcements and loved the video performances from Mamma Mia!, the Sonic Odyssey Earth Harp and the Two70° technology, Vistarama and the Roboscreens. We followed that up with a live performance by Sante Fe and the Fat City Horns, a 16 piece live band that will perform a virtual concert in Two70° on every Quantum cruise.
