How Entertainment on Quantum & Anthem Will Transcend Anything You’ve Seen on Land or Sea

Blog by Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, Executive Vice President, Operations, Royal Caribbean International

Hello, everyone.  Last week I had the pleasure of being in Las Vegas where we announced the amazing entertainment program that will be on Quantum of the Seas.  Our Entertainment team, led by Nick Weir, Vice President of Entertainment for Royal Caribbean International, has been managing through every creative and operational detail of the Quantum entertainment experience for over two years now, and we are all thrilled to have finally shared it with everyone.

Quantum of the Seas and Anthem of the Seas, are prepared to deliver an entertainment experience that transcends anything you’ve ever seen before – on land or at sea.  We have an array of first of their kind productions, performances, and technology that will leave audiences spellbound.

Here are some of the highlights:

In Two70°, a multi-level “living” room, we will introduce a new form of multidimensional and high definition entertainment that fuses technology with highly trained live performers, aerialists and musicians, stunning visuals and special effects.  The entertainment and activity takes place throughout the room, immersing guests in this surprising, delightful and powerful experience.

Technology is at the forefront of the entertainment in Two70º and can be felt throughout the entire space, with two features that have never been seen before, Vistarama, a complex seamless video projection system that transforms Two70°’s signature three story glass walls into a showcase for dramatic digital mapping content and multimedia shows. The content being programmed for Vistarama is all original content and will take our guests to new and interesting places.  It has to be seen and heard to be believed.

Quantum of the Seas℠, Vistarama transforms Two70°’s floor-to-ceiling sea view into any scene, real or imagined.

Quantum of the Seas℠, Vistarama transforms Two70°’s floor-to-ceiling sea view into any scene, real or imagined.

Additionally, our Roboscreens are six massive 100 inch screens connected to robotic arms, and they will be affixed to a moveable gantry that is in the ceiling and will deliver even more customized digital content and dynamic Roboshows. The Roboscreens are choreographed to music and can dance together with live entertainers.

The combination of Vistarama and Roboscreens, along with our highly trained live performers, makes it possible to create stunningly visual, first-of-their-kind shows that can only be seen on Quantum of the Seas.

The Royal Theater is home to the two main shows presented by Royal Caribbean Productions.  Sonic Odyssey is a sophisticated and immersive show that takes guests on a highly visual and experiential journey of music, sound and performance.  The show was inspired by performance artist William Close and his variety of one-of-a-kind majestic instruments, but this show is totally original to Quantum of the Seas and not available anywhere else in the world. Also, we are extending the Royal Caribbean Broadway at Sea SM offering with the full 2½ hour theatrical version of the smash hit musical Mamma Mia!

Music Hall is our third venue dedicated to live music and Entertainment!  Guests will have a wide range of live music opportunities from house bands and tribute bands, to fully produced late night parties and events.

I suppose you can tell that I feel Royal Caribbean has the best, and most revolutionary entertainment at sea, and now on land.  As with our other ships, there will be no charge for entertainment on Quantum of the Seas, which is just one of the reasons why a cruise vacation with us is an incredible value.

We were able to share even more details about Quantum entertainment during a Google Hangout with Kristin Chenoweth, the Godmother and Entertainment Advisor to Quantum of the Seas, and Nick Weir.  If you want to learn more you can watch it here.

Kristin was also with us when we presented highlights at a recent travel agent conference.  The travel agents were very excited with the announcements and loved the video performances from Mamma Mia!, the Sonic Odyssey Earth Harp and the Two70° technology, Vistarama and the Roboscreens.  We followed that up with a live performance by Sante Fe and the Fat City Horns, a 16 piece live band that will perform a virtual concert in Two70° on every Quantum cruise.

I have booked a Christmas sailing for Anthem and was wondering when the entertainment would be released for her or if it will be the same as on the Quantum with the Quantum now heading to Asia. Can’t wait.

    • Royal Caribbean International

Hello Ken, as of now we don’t have any specific entertainment options available for the Anthem of the Seas. However, the ship will have similar options to the Quantum of the Seas since the entertainment venues are the same. We look forward to having you in December.

I’m sailing Quantum next April. So glad to see Royal Caribbean offering solo cabins now. I’ve got a solo balcony– great!

I think Momma Mia is a very good Broadway choice. ABBA would also be great for a dance party instead of the super fast techno stuff I’ve heard some of RCCL DJs play.

Cruising is now my vacation of choice. I’ll go on four cruises this year. RCCL is my favorite brand, and now even better with solo cabins. I appreciate the thought put into enhancing the cruise experience.WOW!

Can you tell me please if Sonic Odyssey will be available to book for those of us on the 11/2 Maiden Voyage ?

I do have it booked for the 11/23 Inaugural but there a lot of us on the 11/2 sailing who are keen to know if it will be offered on that sailing too.

Also with regards to the late night parties will they be able to be booked also before sailing ?

    Many thanks.

    • Royal Caribbean International

Hi Elizabeth, At this time Sonic Odyssey and late night parties are not available for pre-booking on the November 2, 2014 sailing. Please check back at a date closer to your sailing and we may have more information available. Enjoy your cruise!

  4. Karen

My family is booked on Quantum for Jan 3, 2015. We are very excited about all the offerings of the Quantum of the Seas. Regarding the Gatsby event at Two 70, should guest bring Gatsby era clothing for this event?

    • Royal Caribbean International

Hi Gladys, Guests can bring Gatsby era clothing, but it is not required. Hope you enjoy your cruise in January.

  7. Louise Green

  8. Vanessa

It’s 180 days before my sailing on Quantum of the Seas (Feb. 13 sailing in 2015). I have not been able to book entertainment shows on the Quantum, will it be available soon? Can you let me know when? Thanks.

    • Royal Caribbean International

Hi Vanessa, You should be able to book the entertainment 60 to 90 days before the sail date. We cannot wait to welcome you onboard!

  9. Karen

    Hi,
When on Indy we always have our Breakfast in our Junior Suite…..So Adam we are booked on Anthem for 1st June 2015 and would like to still have breakfast room service in our Spa Junior Suite is this still an option.

    Many Thanks

    Karen

    • Royal Caribbean International

Hi Karen, thanks for your inquiry. Yes, you will be able to order room service and have breakfast on your balcony. See you on Anthem next June!

  10. Karen

Looking at the comments above with people booked on Quantum mentioning about booking there entertainment etc…..Do we have to pay for Entertainment we are booked on Anthem 2015 Please can you advise.

Also give us some idea about times for Entertainment as we do not want to continue booking for Dining at a certain time and then find out we are missing shows etc….

    Many Thanks

    Karen & Fred :(

    • Royal Caribbean International

Hi Karen, the production shows onboard are complementary. While we understand you don’t want to miss a minute onboard, unfortunately we have not yet announced the entertainment schedule for Anthem of the Seas.

  11. amanda

Hi, this is our first cruise with Anthem of the Seas next June and was hoping you could advise on the following:-

    1. If we schedule a meal reservation in the cruise planner can it be changed when onboard?
    2. Do you require Dollars for onboard ship for Casino?
    3. If you have guests travelling under 2 different bookings, is it possible to reserve seats together for shows?

    • Royal Caribbean International

Hi Amanda, We like that you’re planning ahead! Meal reservations can be changed onboard. Also, you don’t need cash to play in the casino, all you need to do is scan your SeaPass. If you want to use cash, you definitely can as well. When it comes to show reservations, you should be able to add friends in other bookings in your Cruise Planner. Hope that helps!

  12. Amanda

    Hi,

There is numerous discussions and opinions regarding dress attire on RC cruises. Please can you advise if denims and a polo t-shirt for men would be suitable for smart casual dining on Anthem of the Seas.

    Thanks.

    • Royal Caribbean International

Hey Amanda, great question. As long as the jeans do not have any holes or rips in them, they are fine to wear for the smart casual dining, along with polo shirts.
