Royal Caribbean Continues to Promote from Within

Our company has named Michael Bayley to the position of President & CEO of our sister cruise line Celebrity Cruises. Most recently, Michael was overseeing all of the Operations of the Royal Caribbean International fleet. Prior to that, he oversaw our international sales and marketing. Michael and I have worked together closely for more than a decade. In fact, I met him on my familiarization cruise in 1989 when he was Chief Purser on Sovereign of the Seas. Michael has been an enormous contributor to the success of Royal Caribbean International. I would like to thank him here for everything he has done so far and wish him the best in his new role.

In connection with Michael switching brands, Lisa Lutoff-Perlo is rejoining Royal Caribbean International after seven successful years in Celebrity’s Hotel Operation, the last five as the head of Hotel Operations. Lisa spent many years in various sales and marketing positions before her years in the operation. I also met Lisa in 1989 when I wanted to experience a day of sales calls and Lisa volunteered to host me in her sales territory. Lisa did a phenomenal job in every aspect of Celebrity’s Solstice-class, from the ship design process to the operation of the four (soon to be five) ships of the class.  I am very pleased to welcome Lisa back to Royal Caribbean International.

We are very fortunate to have such accomplished company veterans as Michael and Lisa to assume senior positions when an opening arises. We are also very fortunate to have many truly outstanding female executives throughout the management ranks of Royal Caribbean International. With the changes noted above, my three most senior lieutenants are Lisa Bauer, SVP Global Sales & Marketing; Vicki Freed, SVP North American Sales; and Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, SVP Operations.

Hi,,,will there a RC ship going thru the new Panama Canal Locks , and what ship will it be…..I understand that much larger ships will be able to go thru the new locks. As we planning a cruise to the Panama Canal in 2014,,,it would be nice to know, so we could plan,,,,We did the Jewel of the Seas in 2009, and we enjoyed it very much, but we are hoping to go on larger ship with a Promenade,,,,,Thank you,

Hi Conrad, you can learn more about our Panama Canal itineraries here.

    Dear Sirs,

Why can’t the points system be combined? if we sail on Celebrity thoes points do not count on Royal Caribbean, although we are the same level with both Royal & Celebrity.

    Regards,

    William Prague,

Hello Adam. Just finished another great cruise on Monarch (best ship in the fleet), I have to compliment you on your crew, especially 3 young gentlemen that work at GS desk. It was so refreshing to sit and listen to them laughing and joking together and it was obvious that all 3 were good friends apart from being co-workers. What made it so special was the fact that the group consisted of a Christian, a Hindu and a Muslim. What a shame that the rest of the world can not learn from these 3 young people in how to get along!

We’re happy to hear you had a great cruise onboard Monarch of the Seas, Helen, thank you for your comment.

Hi! Last year, we went on a wonderful trip on one of the RCCL ships, starting end ending in Rome and including two days in Istanbul. We would very much like to repeat this experience in April/May (or in the autumn) next year, but cannot find any such trip on the RCCL-program. However, we notice that new cruises are added from time to time, and would therefore like to know: Is there any likelihood that a Rome-Istanbul-Rome cruise will be added to the RCCL program for 2013? We have found a cruise on one of the Celebrity ships starting from Rome on May 6 that is suitable, but for sentimental reasons (and because we are emerald members of the Crown&Anchor Society, which seems to count for nothing on the Celebrity ships) we would definitely prefer one of the RCCL ships. Any hope?
    Yours,
    Audun Eftedal

    • Adam

Audun, many thanks for your comments. You are correct that for 2013 we do not have any sailings to Istanbul from Rome as our programs have changed some. We will continue to review this as an option for future deployment.
