Two of Our Ships Pose for a Rare Photo Opportunity in Cozumel

I’m excited to share these unique photos I received of Oasis of the Seas and Freedom of the Seas docked in Cozumel, Mexico. The colors and angles of the ships in these pictures are really something striking to look at. I hope you enjoy looking through the aerial images captured from a helicopter.

I encourage you to share your thoughts with me here and your own photos of our ships on our Facebook page.

  2. Nicole

Wow! What beautiful shots, they look so pretty side by side. I am amazed those two can GET that close to each other and to the shore, it looks so shallow!

  3. dEBRA kaduk

WOW, you can really see the differance in size of the 2 ships. I can’t wait to go on the Oasis in the spring

    • Adam

Debra, the size difference of these ships truly is a sight, especially through these aerial photos. Thank you for the comment, and we are looking forward to having you onboard the Oasis in the spring.

    • Adam

Thank you for your kind words and loyalty Baileigh. We are also very proud of our entire team who has worked so diligently into making our great ships a reality. We hope to see you soon.

  4. Andrew ROgers

We went on Freedom last year and was on Oasis when these photo’s were taken. Very strange seeing these two huge amazing ships side by side. Many of us were well aware of the special occasion the hurricane diversion had created by bringing these two side by side. It was a fantastic trip on Oasis of the Seas. Can’t wait for our next!

    • Adam

It’s great that you got to experience this amazing site first hand Andrew. We are glad that you had a fantastic time on Oasis of the Seas and we hope to soon see you again soon.

  5. Leslie

We were there to witness it! Our itinerary on the Oasis was changed due to a hurricane. We woke up in Cozumel, stepped out onto our balcony and there was the Freedom docked right next to us!

    • Adam

It’s great that you got to experience this amazing site first hand Leslie. We are glad that you had a fantastic time on Oasis of the Seas and we hope to see you again soon.

  6. Annie Siegmann

Wow, I wonder how the Sun Viking would’ve looked next to them? Kinda like a dingy?
    Great Pic!
Can’t wait for Allure of the Seas!
    Annie

    • Adam

Thanks, Annie! We are glad you liked the pictures, the size difference truly is amazing, which is why we’ve made sure to deliver the WOW onboard as well. It’s no surprise why we are all so excited about Allure of the Seas, and we can’t wait to see you onboard with us.

  7. Denise Coots

Wow, what a difference. We sailed on Liberty of the Seas last Nov. and thought what a big ship this is. Seeing Freedom next to the Oasis makes me realize just how large Oasis is. Beautiful pictures.

    • Adam

We are glad that you had a fantastic time on liberty of the Seas and we hope to see you onboard with us soon Denise.

  8. Michael H

WOW! It’s incredible to see the largest cruise ship in the world along side her predecessor. Having cruised on Liberty of the Seas and appreciating how monumental the Freedom class ships are I can’t wait to experience Allure come December. Thanks for sharing the photos. And keep the info and images of Allure coming too. RCI truly builds the most incredible ships.

    • Adam

Thank you for your kind words Michael. We’ll do our best in bringing you the latest updates and pics of the Allure. Be sure to check out our blog here, our Facebook page, and our Flickr page for the latest updates and pictures. We look forward to seeing you onboard Allure of the Seas in December.

We were on the Oasis that day and the view was truly breathtaking! We had the opportunity to be on a small ship looking at these 2 and that was spectacular too!

  15. alan rosen

Wow, gives a great perspective on the difference in width of the two ships!

  16. Ciaran Smullen

I cannot believe it!!! I went on Freedom of the Seas three years ago, I look Oasis ship is much bigger that one!!!! Look like ships family…

  17. James Castiglione

What amazing photos of these two prize ships. Both striking but both different. My wife and I recently cruised on The Oasis Of The Sea’s this past August, what a fantastic life experience. Royal Caribbean is “”The Number One Cruise Line in the industry. We are now true fans of The Roal Caribbean Cruse Line and are looking forward to our next cruise on the Allure Of The Sea’s next August

    • Adam

We are happy to know that you and your wife had an amazing experience on Oasis of the Seas, James. We are also very excited to see you on Allure of the Seas this following August.

  18. David barnard

Fantastic photos. The size comparison is so amazing. Brought to mind when we sailed RCL Rhapsody of the Seas and docked in Cozumel next to RCL Voyager of the Seas. Wow. . .we looked at the two and Voyager seemed so huge docked next to Rhapsody. . but just look at the new ones now.

I suppose this photo was taken on September 2, 2010: the day that my Daughter did 4 years (aboard Oasis of the Seas)… My Family and me were aboard the Oasis and was the second time we were in Cozumel in the space of two weeks. We did a back-to-back at the Oasis (departures from Ft. Lauderdale of 21 and August 28), but in the second week, because of Hurricane Earl, was not possible to go to St. Thomas and St. Maarten, so we had to repeat the ports of Cozumel and Costa Maya, which gave the opportunity for the Oasis and Freedom meet, allowing these wonderful pictures. Thanks for sharing those with us!

    • Adam

Thank you for reaching out to us and sharing your story with us Luis and Helena. As you know, we cannot control the weather, but we’re glad to hear your family had a great experience aboard Oasis of the Seas Luis. It was a rare experience, and made for some great pictures! Thanks again Helena, and we look forward to seeing you onboard with us soon.

I was on the Independence of the Seas, sister ship to the Freedom of the Seas and could not imagine a larger ship being built. You did it,Great pics.Would love to see them as screen savers. Neil,

    • Adam

We hope you enjoyed your experience on Independence of the Seas, Neil. We agree with you, the pictures are marvelous. Thank you for your comment and compliments.

  22. Nancy Bryant

    • Adam

Thank you for the compliments, Nancy. We’d be delighted to have you cruise with us on Oasis of the Seas next year.

  23. jackie

I got goosebumps just looking at these photos. Less than 8 weeks until we set sail on Oasis. Can’t believe it’s almost here. Maybe Allure next year.

    • Adam

We are happy to hear you are as excited to go on your cruise on Oasis of the Seas, as we are to have you onboard, Jackie! Sailing Allure of the Seas would be a great compliment after experiencing Oasis of the Seas. We are can’t wait to see you in 8 weeks.

  24. Judy Carter

It was amazing to see lots of the staff of Freedom taking pictures of Oasis as we were docked together. It was truly awesome to get off of Freedom and walk between the two ships at port. Enjoyed our cruise and look forward to more in the future.

    • Adam

You are right Judy; it was truly an amazing sight. We are glad you enjoyed your cruise and we hope to see you again soon.

  25. Tina Shell

As I just got off the phone from Lisha Barrett our Royal Caribbean Cruise Planner, I just booked a back to back on the Alure, The main reason is because We just got home from an amazing week from the Oasis. The service was great, the food was great, the people were great,The 17the cruise that we have been on 7 days or longer. Everything was GREAT!!!!!!!!!! I cannot say enough about that ship.and its staff. We cannot wait until we get to go on the next trip

    • Adam

Hi Tina, we are glad you had such a wonderful time aboard Oasis of the Seas. Our team is dedicated to making your experience memorable every time you cruise with us. We are honored to have yet another adventure with you onboard Allure of the Seas.

  28. MARIO

PHOTOS ARE GREAT , BUT WILL BE EVEN BETTER IN 2 DAYS AS WE WILL BE ON OASIS THIS SAT SEPT 25. CANT WAIT

    • Adam

We agree Mario, the photos are great, but there’s nothing like seeing Oasis up close. We are looking forward to seeing you onboard and delivering the WOW. Enjoy your trip!

  29. Nonie & nati Cruz

We thought that our previous trips on the different ships of the Royal Caribbean International were really great which is why we have always made our cruises on RCI but our latest cruise on board the Oasis of the Seas fron September 11 to 18, 2010 was a completely different experience that we hope everyone would really enjoy just as we did (especially if you are able to get a cabin with a balcony overlooking the Central Park for a serene location or one that overlooks the Boardwalk for a more active location). In fact a lot of people enjoyed it so much that we heard from some of them that they were either doing or have done back to back (& some back to back to back) trips on the Oasis of the Seas – wish we had the time & the $$$$$ to join them.

    • Adam

We are delighted to know that you had such a wonderful experience onboard Oasis of the Seas, Nonie. We’re glad to hear you were able to enjoy and appreciate Central Park and the Boardwalk views. We hope that you come visit us again as soon as the opportunity presents itself.

  30. Bryan

Just got off the Freedom of the Seas, wow what great ship and had a great time. Crew was great. Will be on Oasis next year and the hope the experiance will be just as great.

    • Adam

Thank you for your compliments Bryan. We are glad you had a wonderful time on Freedom of the Seas, and we are more than certain we will be able to make your cruise with us on Oasis of the Seas just as amazing. We can’t wait to see you onboard next year.

  31. JOHN NARKIN

WOW. We cruised on the Independence in November as it repositioned from England to Florida. I was absolutely impressed with that ship. The size and comforts were amazing. You would never had known we were experiencing 50 knot winds and 25 foot seas if you didn’t turn on the ship information channel. The absolute size of the Oasis boggles my mind. It is so much bigger. I was skeptical about going on it because of the price and concern it was too large, but seeing the two ships side by side, I think a cruise on the Oasis or Allure is in my future. I just wish there were different ports other than the normal Caribbean. Been there so many times with RCCL, just looking for something different. That is one of the reasons we will be on the Mariner on Halloween to the Mexican Riviera.

  32. MARIO

WE JUST RETURNED SAT OCT 2 FROM OUR CRUISE ON OASIS WE CANT SAY ENOUGH AND PROBALY COULD GO ON AND ON WE WERE WOWED BEYOND OUR DREAMS THE SHOWS THE CREW. NEVER WERE WE IN A CROWD AND NEVER WAITED TO GET INTO ANYTHING. BOARDING WAS UNBELIEVABLE 15 MIN. IF THAT. THE FOOD WAS VERY GOOD MAYBE EXCEPT THE BISTRO NOT OUR THING. OUR WAIT STAFF IN THE MAIN DINING ROOM WAS GREAT MY PRAISE TO THEM (WE WERE AT TABLE 332)!!! SIMPLY PUT AMAZING.

    • Adam

We are thrilled to know that you had such an amazing time aboard Oasis of the Seas Mario. We take pride in providing our guests with the best entertainment and hospitality possible. Thank you for your high praises, and we will be looking forward to seeing you again soon

  33. Janet

I am definitely “Loyal to Royal”. I won’t even consider going on another cruiseline. I enjoy the Diamond Status. We were on Liberty of the Seas in July for the second time, Freedom once and did Oasis over Spring Break 2010. We are on the Allure in March 2011. Can’t wait! There is definite size comparison between the Freedom/Liberty and the Oasis. On all three ships you will NEVER run out of things to do. Hurry March 2011! Thanks RCCL for being the best!

    • Adam

Janet, we are delighted and very grateful to have you as a “Loyal to Royal” cruiser. We are glad that you’ve enjoyed cruising with us, and look forward to delivering the “WOW” on March.
