Most summer beach-goers share the same purpose: to relax, soak up the sun and perhaps (temperature permitting) take a dip in the salty surf. When it comes to must-have beach items, however, everyone’s choices are a little different.
Here is what Royal Caribbean’s Quantum Experience Advisors – Kristin Chenoweth, Michael Schwartz, Dhani Jones and Genevieve Gorder – are packing, reading and craving by the waves this summer.
When you head to the beach, what are the items that are always in your bag?
Kristin Chenoweth: Chapstick, an assortment of magazines and water
Michael Schwartz: Fresh mango chunks with lime juice, sea salt and ice cold beer
Dhani Jones: A great book and a journal
Genevieve Gorder: Sunscreen (duh), my sarong that I bought 15 years ago in Morocco for about $2 (it’s really just a holey piece of fabric at this point) and lip balm (I always have it on)
What is your favorite summer beach read?
Kristin: New York Magazine
Michael: The New York Times Food section
Dhani: “On Purpose: The Graphic Novel” by Vic Strecher, PhD, MPH
Genevieve: I’m into French design magazines on the beach: Côte Sud, Côte Est…c’est parfait!
If you could order up any food item on the beach, what would it be?
Kristin: A piña colada and nachos
Michael: Ceviche, all the way. It’s local, fresh and not too heavy, so it won’t weigh you down.
Dhani: A spring salad with chicken
Genevieve: A super fresh, very sour margarita with chips and guacamole
