Historic Russian and Scandinavian destinations to explore with Royal Caribbean:
Castles and crown jewels, galleries and museums, cathedrals and canals--these are just a few of the enchanting treasures in Copenhagen, Scandinavia's largest and most elegant city. Visit Tivoli, a unique combination of picture-perfect gardens, lakes and more than 100,000 colored lights. Take a stroll down the vibrant Langelinie Promenade, and pass by the celebrated statue of Hans Christian Andersen's "Little Mermaid". Or tour two of Copenhagen's most famous storybook-like castles, the Rosenborg and the Christianborg.
Noted for its graceful architecture and elegant gardens, Helsinki is a fascinating place to explore. The island fortress, Suomenlinna, is the greatest Swedish legacy, while the neoclassical style of the Senate Square has Russian written all over it. Finnish Art Nouveau also defines much of the cityscape. But it's the lovely mermaid fountain near the fish market that's come to symbolize Helsinki. One of the best and most active ways to see all the sites is on a Jopo, the famous Finnish bike.
St. Petersburg, Russia
Inspired by his travels through Europe, Peter the Great set out to create a grand port city—Russia's "Window to the West". Nowadays, St. Petersburg is again at the threshold of change, always welcoming new ideas while looking beyond for inspiration. Explore the Hermitage Museum, home one of the world's greatest art collections (though the building itself is also a masterpiece). Another must-see: Peterhof, a complex of palaces and gardens started by Peter the Great and expanded upon by many tsars after.
Tallinn's Old Town--with its Gothic spires, ancient bell towers and winding streets--is perhaps the best preserved of its kind in all of Europe. The whole historic district has managed to retain its charm through Swedish and Soviet rule, and coexists in perfect harmony with a thoroughly modern Tallinn. Estonia's fascinating capital has a myriad of parks, cafés, sporting activities and shops. Explore the Old Town and all of its historic sites, then check out scenic neighboring areas: Hop on a bike to the picturesque Kakumae. Hike through the untouched bogs of the North-Korvemaa Landscape Reserve. Or marvel at both man-made and natural wonders at the Kadriorg, former palace of Peter the Great.
These are only a few of the European destinations visited by Royal Caribbean International.
