Punta Del Este has plenty of beautiful beaches to visit. Here are a few to add to your must-visit-list: Brava, with its rolling waves, faces the Atlantic and is the perfect spot for surfing. Mansa, otherwise know as gentle beach, is on the bayside, and is a great place to go water-skiing and snorkeling. 
Other Fun Things to Do
Art enthusiasts will adore Casa Pueblo. This onetime home of artist Carlos Páez Vilaró is now a magnificent museum that houses many must-see pieces. Perched on a cliff overlooking the Portezuelo Bay the structure itself is a masterpiece. .
Take a short trip to Isla de Lobos. The island is home to one of the world's largest sea lion colonies.
Make sure to stroll Calle Gorlero, Punta del Este's most happening hot spot and a great place to shop.

Brótola is a tasty local whitefish and chivito is a mouth-watering Uruguayan steak sandwich. Make sure to try them both.

There are a slew of designer stores on Calle 20. But you should also take in a street fair and stroll through the city's many art galleries.
Currency
The Uruguayan peso is the official currency. Foreign currencies can be exchanged in banks and authorized bureaus. Most shops do accept U.S. dollars, Euros, the Argentine peso and Brazilian real. American Express, VISA, Diners Club and Master Card are also widely accepted. Please note there may be difficulty in exchanging traveler's checks. Some accept them, but they charge a small commission.
