The One Thing You Don't Want to Miss

Explore one of the earliest and best-preserved mosaic monuments in the world. Built in the 5th century, Mausoleo di Galla Placida was constructed for Galla Placidia, the half-sister of Roman Emperor Honorius. The mausoleum is quite deceptive; its very simple exterior is in sharp contrast with the incredible, colorful mosaics inside. Also, visit the spectacular Basilica di San Vitale, Neonian Baptistery, Basilica Sant'Apollinare in Classe, Basilica Sant'Apollinare Nuovo, Arian Baptistery, Archiepiscopal Chapel, Mausoleo di Theodoric and Domus Dei Tappeti di Pietra. The tomb of Dante Alighieri, the author of the literary masterpiece Divine Comedy, is also a must-see. Dante spent the last 20 years of his life in Ravenna after being exiled from Florence in 1302.

Other Fun Things to Do

• Visit Bologna to take in the city's chief sights: the Leaning Towers, Palazzo del Podesta, Palazzo Comunale, Piazza del Nettuno and Palace of King Enzo. The most impressive building in the square is Basilica di San Petronio.
• The most ancient republic in the world, San Marino, is only a 90-minute drive from Ravenna. While in San Marino, marvel at the 1896 statue of Lady Liberty before seeing the exterior of Palazzo del Governol.
• Car enthusiasts will marvel at the Ferrari Museum. Visitors will find Formula 1, themed exhibitions, technological innovations and photographic shows. The amphitheatre hosts two driving simulators set in real F1 cars for those who want to experience the thrill of getting behind the wheel of a single seat in a championship race.
• There are several beaches and resorts near the pier, some of which are walking distance. Approximately 25 km from the pier are Cervia and Milano Marittima which are considered two of the most renowned and fashionable resorts along the Adriatic Coast.
• Approximately 20 km from the pier is Mirabilandia, one of the biggest amusement parks in Italy.

Hop on a bike for an unforgettable tour of Ravenna. A selection of paths take you along the coast and across the plain to the hills. No need to rent a bicycle. The port has purchased 20 new bicycles which are available to cruise guests. The pick up location is approximately a 5-minute walk from the shuttle drop off location and you'll need to show your cruise card to start your exploration of one of the most bicycle-friendly cities in Italy.

Get a Taste of Local Flavor

Stop at a piadinerie for piadina (thin, Italian flatbread) served with cold cuts, jam, Nutela or regional cheeses. Tortellini and Cappelletti , the Bolognese sauce, as well as local wines such as SanGiovese should not be missed.
