The port of Phu My (pronounced Foo Me) is the gateway to Ho Chi Minh City and the seaside resort of Vung Tau. From Phu My you can discover the fascinating tunnel network at Cu Chi, used by the Viet Cong during the war. At their height they stretched from the South Vietnamese capital to the Cambodian border. The port of Phu My also leads to the vibrant and exciting Ho Chi Minh City, also know as Saigon where you can immerse yourself in unique colors, aromas, and sights.

Vietnamese food is usually prepared fresh with a minimum of oil and served with the ubiquitous fish sauce called "nuoc mam." As well, due to the strong Buddhist influence in Vietnam, vegetarian food is widely available. Typical Vietnamese dishes included pho, a type of rice noodle soup eaten for breakfast, cha gio, deep-fried spring rolls, and goi ngo sen, salad made with lotus stems, shrimps and peanuts.
Located approximately 2 hours away from the port of Phu My is an exciting shopping experience in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City. Notable places to spend some time and perhaps money is the Ben Thanh Central Market, home to thousands of products such as clothes, shoes, watches, bags, and food for sale. In downtown Ho Chi Ming City, Dong Khoi Street is one of the busiest streets filled with fashionable boutiques, cafes and souvenir shops.
The Vietnamese currency is the dong. You can exchange currency in any of the following ways: at a bank, through an authorized exchange bureau or at a hotel reception desk. The best rates are at the banks, but the exchange bureaus are the most convenient, as they're open longer hours. Most major credit cards should be accepted at almost any major city or popular tourist spot.
