4X4 Waterfall Escapade - SLC1
A welcoming waterfall amidst a natural forest setting awaits after a drive through villages and small communities along the east coast of the island. It is a combination of fun, history, sightseeing and a chance to see St. Lucia from a different perspective.
Hidden on the East Coast of the island and tucked away towards the interior of the island where the rain forest begins is La Tille Waterfall & Garden. Before getting there you will drive through the city of Castries and out of the way communities and then on to La Tille. Your will disembark the jeeps and stroll around the garden where herbal and flower plants grow in harmony. There are a variety of fruit trees from which you will be able to sample their sweetness. This natural site attracts people from across the world and you will be eager to experience its serenity and swimming in the natural pool under the waterfall. The natural trail leading to the waterfall is over earthen ground and steps where wooden sticks are provided for walking.
This is the first and only heritage site which generates its own electricity through hydro power from the waterfall and the well manicured grounds with relaxation beneces will allow you to spend time in a truly tranquil surrounding. You will also witness the traditional way of roasting cashews over an open fire (when in season) and afterwards the tasting! Time passes and then it is time to return to Castries and the ship.
Note: If it has rained the trail could be slippery and due care must be taken when going down and up the steps along the trail. Also the natural pool may have silt brought down by the waterfall but once settled it remains clear.
