This tour is a unique way to experience how a real Barcelonan lives in the city. The old, Gothic Quarter, with its charm and little shops, all of them are a representation of the history of Barcelona. You will enjoy the real traditions of the city's markets, by tasting its fresh products. After the visit of the Gothic quarter, you will proceed to a well-known market in the city - the Market of the Boqueria. The Market itself dates back to 1217. Form there; proceed on foot to the Santa Caterina Market. It was once the church and convent of Santa Caterina of the Dominican order of the Preachers. Due to the discovery of archaeological relics of the Church and the Convent of Santa Caterina, the market went through a long restoration and reopened its doors in May 2005. Its iron cover is already one of the emblematic images of the city.
After the market's 'exploration,' you'll have some free time at two remarkable areas in Barcelona: Plaza Catalunya (with its large numbers of street entertainers including street artists and musicians) and Las Ramblas (with its prestigious shops and boutiques). Regroup and return to the ship.
Note: Guests must be able to walk approximately 2.5 miles over various uneven surfaces, cobblestone streets, inclines and steps. Comfortable, non-slip walking shoes are recommended. Time permitting; guests will have approximately 30 minutes of free time at Las Ramblas and Plaza Catalunya. A single glass of wine or beer will be provided per person at each market. Guests must be at least 18 years of age in order to have the alcoholic beverages. Additional beverages can be purchased separately. Local currency will be required should you want to make additional purchases.
