OVERVIEW: Culture and nature come together in a tour which combines the main historic highlights of Genoa with a visit the city's wonderful aquarium; the largest in Italy.
HIGHLIGHTS: Take a walking tour through Genoa's historic city center, viewing many of the city's highlights including the 13th century Palazzo Ducale, the former residence of the Genoese Doges who were the city's chief magistrates. You will walk along Via Garibaldi, the pride of Genoa, and visit the city's large, modern aquarium and discover a rich, underwater universe full of mysterious creatures.

Your half-day tour begins at the pier when you board a motor-launch which will take you to Genoa’s historic port. On your walking tour of the city, you will pass the 13th century Palazzo S. Giorgio. The plaza was the seat of government for many years and later the site of Genoa’s famous bank. You will also see the Genoa Aquarium and the new Expo area designed by Renzo Piano.
You’ll walk along Via Garibaldi; the pride of Genoa. You will see opulent mansions like the white and red palaces and the former residence of Doria Tursi; modern Genoa’s Town Hall. You will continue on to the Piazza De Ferrari, where you can see the exterior of the opera house known as the Teatro Carlo Felice and the 13th century Palazzo Ducale; former residence of the Genoese Doges; the city’s chief magistrates. Adorned with fountains, statues and frescoes the palace has been recently converted into an exhibition center.
From the historic to the modern, your tour continues with a visit to the Genoa Aquarium; the largest in Italy. Here you will experience and discover a rich, underwater universe full of mysterious creatures including sharks and fish of all shapes and colors. You are sure to enjoy seeing the aquarium’s delightful dolphins, penguins and seals.
Following your visit to the aquarium, you’ll re-board your motor launch and cruise back to the pier.

What to Wear:
-Comfortable walking shoes and light clothing are strongly recommended.
-Strict dress codes are enforced for religious sites and short pants, tank tops and revealing clothing are not acceptable. Shoulders and knees must be covered.
-Guests must be able to walk approximately 2 miles (approximately 3 hours) over various surfaces, inclines and 10 - 15 steps.
-This tour is not suitable for guests with walking difficulties or who use a wheelchair.
-This tour will be offered for the Mariner of the Seas - only for guests debarking in the port of Civitavecchia.
