Depart pier, travel to British/Spanish Land Frontier. Driver/Guide points out areas visited at WWII Tunnels. Tour proceeds to Europa Point & Trinity Lighthouse. Enjoy views of Atlantic Ocean, Mediterranean, Straits of Gibraltar, African Coastline, Spanish Costa Del Sol. Continue towards Nature Reserve to learn history & see Rock Apes. At Hays Level, guide provides health/safety briefing, sightseeing overview. See workings of fortress: view exhibitions depicting life in tunnels. Return to pier. Stay in town, responsible for own return. Note: Guests must walk approx 300 yards over uneven surfaces, inclines & steps. Tour order may vary.
Depart from quayside and travel directly to the British/Spanish Land Frontier. Your Driver/Guide will offer a brief overview of Gibraltar's history along the way and will point out the areas you will be visiting once you get to the WWII Tunnels. The Tour will then proceed to Europa Point, site of the Trinity Lighthouse. Enjoy the views of the Atlantic Ocean mingling with the calm waters of the Mediterranean Sea, the busy Straits of Gibraltar, the African Coastline and the infamous Spanish Costa Del Sol. Continue towards the Nature Reserve, home of the Northern Defenses Sector where you will have the opportunity to learn about Gibraltar's fascinating history and possibly catch a glimpse of the famous Rock Apes roaming free around the area. Upon your arrival at Hays Level, you will be met by your guide who will provide a quick health and safety briefing and basic sightseeing overview. Discover the inner workings of this massive fortress seeing highlights that include a fascinating exhibition depicting what life is like in the tunnels, the hospital, Army accommodations, the waterworks, the natural cave, stalactites and stalagmites. Once you have sampled all of the wonders held within the Fortress, you will be escorted to the cafeteria where a selection of snacks is available for purchase. You will enjoy the numerous photographic images contained within the facility and can take a stroll at your leisure.
After the short break, you will be met by your driver and returned to the pier. If you wish to make the most of your time in Gibraltar and stop at the Town Center for a bit of duty-free shopping, there will be a drop you off at the entrance on the way down to the Port. Should you wish to remain in town, you will be responsible for making your own way back to the ship.
Note: Guests must be able to walk approximately 300 yards over uneven surfaces with various inclines and numerous steps. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Tour will be conducted with a driver acting as your guide. It is suggested that you do not approach, touch, or feed the Barbary Apes and are advised to hold on to possessions such as handbags, cameras and sunglasses. Tour sequence may be altered to avoid congestion but always covering the mentioned sites.
