This half day tour gives you chance to focus on the Ancient City of Ephesus in all its glory. During your visit, you will see the Magnesia Gate, Odeon, the Fountain of Trajan, temple of Hadrian and the impressive library of Celcius. Learn all about the life and times around this ancient site and conclude your tour with a shopping stop. Finally, you will visit Ephesus Theme Park for a refreshment stop and exclusive interactive show.
Ephesus is considered as the most important ancient ruins in Turkey, and this will be the focus of your tour. It begins with a transfer through the verdant countryside to the site of Ephesus, considered to be an Open Air Archaeological Museum. You will begin your exploration of this ancient site as you pass by the Magnesia gate and enter the administrative section of ancient Ephesus. This guided walking tour will take you through one of the most magnificent excavations in the world. You’ll see the Odeon, the Fountain of Trajan, the steam baths of Scholastika, temple of Hadrian and the most famous structure, the Library of Celcius. The facade of the library has two-stories, with Corinthian style columns on the ground floor and three entrances to the building.
Next you’ll see the Grand Theater, where St. Paul preached. It is one of the largest theaters in antiquity with a capacity of 24,000 seats. Your final destination is through the Arcadian way, where Mark Anthony and Cleopatra once rode in procession. Finally, you will visit Ephesus Theme Park for a refreshment stop and exclusive interactive show. At the conclusion of your tour, your bus will take you back to Kusadasi where there will be a brief carpet presentation. Or, if you wish, you may return directly to the ship which is within walking distance. Time permitting on the return to downtown a stop at a leather outlet for a fashion show may be included.
Note: Guests must be able to walk approximately 1 mile over uneven and cobblestone surfaces, inclines and 100+ steps. Comfortable walking shoes and clothing, a hat and sunscreen are recommended. Insect repellent is recommended in July and August. Guests need to watch their step at all times in order to avoid injuries. Due to the nature of this tour, it is highly recommended that guests with walkers or wheelchairs and for persons who have difficulties in walking, climbing, and/or managing steps not take this tour.
