Full Description: This tour will take you on a scenic drive along the mountainous east coast of Sicily. You’ll stop below the village of Taormina and proceed uphill (on foot) to the town gates. Built in the 3rd century BC, the city was completely renovated by the Romans. In Taormina, you’ll have approximately 3 hours to explore the village at your own pace. Walk through the ancient squares and stroll along the cobblestone streets to Palazzo Corvaia; a 15th century structure adorned with classic double windows. On your own, visit the Greek Theater, built in the 3rd century BC. Renowned for its width and unique acoustic qualities, the theater is still used today for open-air concerts. On a clear day, the site offers views of the snowcapped peak of Mt. Etna. Enjoy refreshments or lunch in a local cafe and shopping in the boutiques on Corso Umberto.
