Your tour begins at the port of Cadiz and proceeds through the old city and bay area. Your guide will point out such highlights including the former Tobacco Factory now the Cadiz Palace of Congress, Santo Domingo Church, Old Royal Prison, Roman Theatre, San Sebastian and Santa Catalina Castles, Plaza de Espana with the Monument to the Liberal Assembly and Provincial Deputation Building. You'll see the San Carlos Gate, the Alameda Apodaca, the Church of the Carmen, the Cathedral, the San Juan de Dios Square, the Town Hall, Santa Maria and Victoria Beaches, and finally the Football stadium. Afterwards, the coach will take the old road to Jerez de La Frontera, a town located only 31 miles from the sea and Cadiz. Jerez has such a different climate that it makes it possible to cultivate the different types of grape used to produce the three main Sherry varieties. The landscape seen from the coach will change from the dry lands of the coast to the fertile cultivated ones near Jerez. Proceed with a panoramic drive through the city centre before stopping at the cellars or bodegas as they are called.
The sherry production houses are located, surprisingly, in the centre of the town of Jerez and are generally associated with an element of snobbery and aristocratic pride even to this day. At the cellars, you will follow the explanations of the process to create the original sherry wine from the grape cultivation until the liquor is poured into the bottle. Participants will have an unlimited sherry tasting before the coach heads directly back to CAdiz and the ship.
Note: Guests must be able to walk approximately 0.25 mile over various even and cobblestone surfaces.
