Ponta Delgada City Tour - PG24
Ponta Delgada a flat rectangular city of abut 3km legth reflects the mixture of architectural styles and urban planning that have been influential through its history. On this tour you will have the opportunity to visit some of its well known monuments and gardens.
Leaving the harbour by bus, you will be dropped off in the city center. This tour will start with a visit to the church of Sao Sebastiao - the mother church built between 1531 and 1547. Then there will be a walk of about 25 minutes through Ponta Delgada's main shopping area to Convent and Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Esperanca - intimately connected to the ritual of Lord, Holy Christ of Miracles. The tour heads to Jose do Canto Botanical Garden - planted in the middle of the XIX century its exotics trees, small forests and lawns transmit a breathtaking peace. Before returning to the harbour, a short visit to another famous Botanical Garden will take place - Antonio Borges Botanical Garden, famous by its collection of European and tropical trees.
Note: Should St. Joseph Church be closed, the Convent of Esperanza will be visited instead.
