Full Description: Begin your guided tour with a scenic ride from the ship for approximately 1 ¼ hours before arriving in Aix en Provence. Aix is a “town of water and a town of culture” whose history has been shaped by its spas and the arts. It was home to the tempestuous politician Mirabeau and the famous painter Paul Cezanne. The former capital of the Provence region, Aix, has kept most of its character from the 17th and 18th centuries, and is best enjoyed on foot. Step back in time as you follow your guide from the tree-lined “Cours Mirabeau”, through “Quartier Mazarin” to the old town, passing elegant old mansions, majestic avenues and spraying fountains along the way. At the conclusion of your walking tour, enjoy free time for shopping or independent exploration before meeting your guide and departing to the ship.
