Mount Roberts Tramway - JU26
Board a tramcar for a ride through the rainforest to the top of 1,800-foot Mt. Roberts, where you may explore the Nature Center, view the award-winning film or take a walk. Your tram ticket is good for unlimited rides throughout the day. This tour is scenic, convenient and easily combinable with any other tour!
Your unforgettable adventure begins upon boarding the tramcar adorned in colorful Tlingit heraldic designs. An exhilarating ride through the Alaska rainforest lifts you to 1,800 feet on Mount Roberts. Experience one of Alaska's most expansive, beautiful views with the Chilkat Mountains north, Stephens Passage south, Douglas Island west, and east to Silver Bow Basin where gold was discovered in 1880. At the top, the Nature Center is embarkation to an extensive trail system. Watch for wildlife and birds on your way to the bear viewing platforms. Learn about raptors in Alaska from the Naturalist at the live bald eagle exhibit.
The Mountain House is nestled among towering Sitka Spruce on the edge of the grasses and wildflowers of the sub-alpine. Inside receive an introduction to the Tlingit way-of-life at the Chilkat Theater with the award winning film Seeing Daylight. At Raven Eagle Gifts, Native artists are often featured working on wood, fossilized ivory or silver carvings, making dolls, sewing garments or beading. Enjoy a specially brewed Alaskan beer at the Timberline Bar & Grill or a crab feed (additional cost while in season).
