Step back in time with one of the madams of the Red Onion Saloon. Lavishly costumed and highly entertaining, she will guide you through the streets and back alleys of Skagway, revealing the untold and neglected stories of the courageous ladies of the Klondike Gold Rush. Pass historic 1898 buildings as you learn of Skagway's rich history. Your experience culminates with a stop at the Red Onion Saloon's restored brothel museum, where you will join in a champagne toast and explore the halls and bedrooms of this celebrated brothel, observing original relics and images of the ladies who worked there. If you're lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of the resident ghost, Lydia!
This exciting tour (as seen on the Discovery Channel) will take you back in time when women of the evening brushed shoulders with notorious characters such as Soapy Smith and Skookum Jim. A sumptuously dressed madam will greet you with a garter and walk through Skagway's streets and alleys telling stories of adventurous "good-time" girls such as Klondike Kate, Pea Hull Annie, and Diamond Lil. You will visit several cribs and districts and hear exciting and sometimes tragic accounts of the women who stampeded north. The tour climaxes with a champagne toast at the famous Red Onion Saloon and Brothel Museum. Here you will explore the halls and bedrooms of this celebrated and haunted brothel, observing relics and images of the girls who worked upstairs. You'll see the priceless silver dress found hidden beneath the floorboards and if you're lucky, you may catch a glimpse of our the resident ghost, Lydia!
