Explore Greek culture and natural formations at Melissani, known in Greek mythology as the cave of the nymphs, and a 13th century monastery. Ride in a wooden boat on the deep-blue waters of Melissani’s subterranean lake. The Agios Andreas Monastery is said to house an unusual holy relic — the foot of the Apostle Andrew. Continue to the quaint fishing village of Agia Efimia, exploring its charms on your own before returning to the ship.
Highlights: • Melissani Cave: Ride a boat inside the cavern whose partially collapsed limestone ceiling illuminates the deep blue lake. • Monastery of Agios Andreas: Admire the original frescoes as well as icons and frescoes from other Kefalonian churches. • Agia Efimia: Enjoy free time to explore this traditional fishing village featuring a variety of taverns, bars and shops.
