Flam is located in one of the innermost arms of the Sognefjord - Norway's longest fjord, over 125 miles in length. Here you will board the famous Flam Railway, one of the world's most interesting works of railroad engineering and today included in the list of the world's most beautiful railway journeys. Through approximately 20 tunnels you travel up the steep cliffs to an altitude of 2845 ft. above sea level. Along the way you will stop at the mighty Kjosfossen Waterfall. Upon reaching the final destination of the Flam Railway, Myrdal, a change of trains is needed. You then embark the Bergen Railway, which was opened as early as 1909, to continue your trip to Voss. A short distance west of Upsete you come to Raundalen valley where the first farms appear, and from here it is down hill all the way to Voss. This stretch of the line is a great experience with marvelous views. After the railway journey it is time for lunch in one of the hotels in Voss.

Voss is a renowned ski center and a historic place with heritage sites dating back to the Middle Ages. After lunch you will have time for a stroll in the interesting village, among things to see are: the Church of Voss built in 1271-77, the "Mosafinn Monument" a bronze relief, a memorial in honor of the master fiddler Ola Mosafinn (1828-1912). Then it is time to continue the journey, this time by bus. The first stop is the lovely Tvinde Waterfall, which cascades down the mountainside. You will stop for a short stroll at the Tvinde Waterfall to take a photo or just enjoy the wonderful scenery. You then travel through woodland and lush farmland till you arrive at the traditional Stalheim Hotel, which for more than 115 years has been an absolute highlight of many tourists' visit to Western Norway. From the terrace of the hotel you will have a wonderful view of the Stalheim Waterfall cascading more than 400 ft. The hotel will serve afternoon coffee and pastries while you enjoy the splendid view.

After this break the bus will take you down the Stalheimskleiva, Norway's steepest road. On both sides, waterfalls are cascading down the mountain sides, while the coach makes its way through 13 hairpin curves to the valley floor. Continuing down the Naeroy Valley and through two long tunnels, you will be back in Flam.

Note: Guests must be able to walk approximately 0.5 mile over even and dirt surfaces with some steep steps. There are approximately 30 steps to navigate. Ramps and elevators are available at the lunch venue. Boarding the train requires 1 large step and 3 steps when exiting. This excursion may also be run in reverse order with morning coffee at Stalheim and lunch at Voss.
