The best way to learn and experience the atmosphere of Copenhagen city is to do it by walking and by water-walking through streets, crossing squares, passing the Copenhageners on their way from one place to another, for shopping, or just enjoying the sun in parks or on benches. Feel the city on a walking tour.

Commence the tour by following the harbor front passing the Langelinie Yacht Marina. Stop at the world famous Little Mermaid (photostop), which has become a symbol of Denmark. Stroll along the green park and harbor and continue to the modern, but elegant Amaliegarden, with the Queen's Palace, Amalienborg (photostop) right behind the square.

Near the Amalienborg Palace you will come to the Nyhavn canals. Nyhavn was previously the sailors' quarter, but is today a fashionable promenade with restaurants and bars, but still being able to keep the atmosphere of the sea and the past centuries. On the way to Nyhavn a stop at Odd Fellow Palace is made for a refreshment.

Cross the King's New Square where the Royal Theatre is located and proceed into the medieval Copenhagen where the cobblestone streets, half-timbered houses, and narrow courtyards are still dominating - but carefully restored. On your way also pass by the Christiansborg Castle, housing the Danish Government, before strolling into the cozy narrow pedestrian streets again.

At Gammel Strand you board one of our lovely canal boats. The leisurely cruise takes you through the canals of Christianshavn with its picturesque old buildings and Our Saviour's Church with its green and gold steeple, The Black Diamond - the new wing of the Royal Library and other landmarks before making a stop at the original location of the Little Mermaid, the fairytale creation of Hans Christian Andersen before returning to Langelinie Pier.

Please note that The Little Mermaid will be replaced by an abstract Multimedia version created by Chinese artist Ai Weiwei for the summer of 2010.

Note: Guests must be able to walk approximately 2 miles (2.5 hours) over cobblestone streets and even surfaces. Low heeled, comfortable walking shoes and comfortable, loose clothing are recommended. This tour will operate in all weather conditions so participants should take appropriate weather gear with them. One beverage per person will be served at one of the local taverns/cafes in Nyhavn at the direction of the guide.
