A relaxing and easy tour of fjord landscapes and mountains. Coffee break during the tour at Østerbø Mountain Lodge. Photostops en route.
Flam is located in one of the innermost arms of the Sognefjord - Norway's longest fjord, over 125 miles in length. This tour starts by coach from Flam and continues through the Aurland Valley, famous for its fine mountain touring area, beautiful nature, cultural mementoes and history. Climbing a twisty road, partly in tunnels, you'll glimpse the wild Aurland Valley below before approaching a mountain pass which until recently was open for traffic only during the summer months. Soon you will reach the mountain chalets that were built in the courtyards of two old farms. In an altitude of 893 yards above sea level you will be served typical Norwegian pastry (waffles) and coffee/tea. While enjoying the delicious waffles in the charming and authentic mountain lodge, you will have a lovely view over the wild landscape, which is a true hiker's paradise. Before returning along the same fascinating road to the ship, you will have a short stop in the village of Aurland, famous for its shoe-production and a beautiful church.
