Start your journey by traveling to the top of the white cliffs for a photostop of the Dover Castle. Leaving Dover, you will travel to Canterbury, a cradle of Christianity in Saxon England, a site that had been occupied for 350 years when the Romans arrived there in 43 AD. The long grey cathedral is the Mother Church of Anglicans throughout the world. It began the tradition of pilgrimage which was commemorated by Chaucer in his Canterbury Tales. Your guide will point out the main aspects of the cathedral before you begin your individual visit. You will walk around the precincts for photo opportunities. There will be an opportunity for you to browse in the shops before returning to Dover.

The city, a cradle of Christianity in Saxon England, stands on a site that had been occupied for 350 years when the Romans arrived there in 43 AD. Canterbury has preserved some of its medieval character. The long gray cathedral that dominates the city and skyline is the Mother Church of Anglicans throughout the world. It dates from Norman times, and for 350 years after the murder of Thomas Becket, then Archbishop, began the tradition of pilgrimage that was commemorated by Chaucer in his Canterbury Tales. Your guide will point out the main aspects of the cathedral before you begin your individual visit. You can walk around the precincts affording fine photo opportunities before continuing the tour. Conclude with free time browsing in the nearby shops before commencing the return drive to Dover.

Note: Guest must be able to walk approximately 0.33 mile over even, paved surfaces with 5 - 20 steps. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Tour order may vary between groups but always covering the mentioned sites. Time permitting; guests will have approximately 1 hour for shopping and browsing in Canterbury city center. The drive from Canterbury is approximately 45 minutes, dependent upon traffic conditions.
