Antigua - Self Guided - GQ07
A great shore excursion for the adventurer in you! Antigua has much to offer from cafes, restaurants, art galleries, museums, churches, historical buildings, shops, etc… and this excursion allows you to focus on your specific interests!
Your wonderful day will begin when your friendly and knowledgeable staff greets you at the pier. Then you will board your air-conditioned transportation for the guided 90-minute drive through the scenic countryside to colonial Antigua. Antigua preserves its original features as though time had stood still. Because of its immense historical and cultural value, it was declared a World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1979.
Located in a valley surrounded by mountains and towering volcanoes, today it is a pleasant city of cobblestone streets, houses, and businesses with colonial-style facades, tile roofs, restored and ruins of churches, palaces, and convents. This is a self-guided tour of Antigua, meaning you decide how to best spend your time in this magnificent city. You will be provided with a map of the city which contains a suggested walking tour and points of interest, and specific instructions about meeting time and place.
Please be advised that if you miss the return transportation to the pier it will be up to you to arrange for your return before the cruise line departs. During the whole duration of your stay, there will be staff available at the drop-off/pick-up locations.
Please note that Antigua is located at approx. 5000 feet above seas level.
