Discover Ireland’s rich history and verdant countryside while on a five-hour trip that leads you through County Kilkenny to see historic landmarks including Jerpoint Abbey, Inistioge Bridge, and the lively market village of Thomastown. An hour’s coach drive through green Irish hillscapes brings you to Jerpoint Abbey, one of the most complete Irish Cistercian monasteries in the country. Delve into the peaceful lives of local monks while strolling around the sculpted cloister arcade, viewing Romanesque architecture, tomb sculptures, faded wall paintings and ornate carvings depicting saints and apostles. A photo stop down the road lands you in the small scenic village of Inistioge along the picturesque River Nore. Hear tales of historic residents as you capture the town’s leafy main square and famous 10-arch stone bridge, which dates back to 1765. A short drive to nearby Thomastown gives you a glimpse of its tumultuous history since its founding in the 13th century. Here you’ll see the remains of a church dedicated to St. Mary as well as Dysart Castle, childhood home of 18th-century philosopher, Bishop George Berkeley.

Highlights:
• Jerpoint Abbey: Enter a Cistercian monastery to see unique carvings, wall paintings, tomb sculptures, and 12th-century Romanesque details.
• Inistioge Bridge: Stand along the River Nore and admire the design of this 10-arch stone bridge amid charming village environs.
