Begin your half-day tour with a drive heading north from Civitavecchia and enjoy the warm colors of the Etruscan countryside as you make your way to Tuscania. This classic village stands at the top of a rocky hill overlooking the Maremma region and dates back to the 9th century BC. Although a terrible earthquake destroyed parts of the village in 1971, Tuscania's Etruscan and Renaissance buildings have been beautifully restored and still reflect the Etruscan history. Enjoy a walk with your guide through the narrow cobblestone lanes of this charming village and also take in the views of the surrounding valleys.
Your tour continues with a visit to a local family-owned farmhouse that produces olive oil, vegetables, jams, and other local products. You’ll learn about the history of olive oil production and enjoy sampling two different oils with typical bruschetta bread, tomatoes, homemade jam and honey, accompanied by local wine and liquor. Afterwards, you’ll rejoin the coach for the return to the ship.
During the bus ride to Tuscania, you will receive emergency contact numbers in the unlikely event you become separated from the group.
