Discover the island history and buccaneer legacy of Nassau while on a three-hour, slow-paced, small-group trip that includes a sightseeing drive through downtown, plus visits to Fort Charlotte and the Pirates of Nassau Museum. Take a seat in an accessible van, where a local guide will lead your small group on a panoramic drive past the pastel-colored facades lining downtown Nassau's streets. This capital of the Bahamas traces back to the British colonial era, with its Parliament Square built in 1815 and Fort Fincastle atop Society Hill constructed by Lord Dunmore in 1793. You'll then enjoy a guided visit of Fort Charlotte, a British colonial citadel sitting tall over the harbor. Named after the wife of King George III, this fortress complex features a moat, underground tunnel network with dark dungeons, and a collection of cannons that never saw the light of war. Your final stop at the Pirates of Nassau Museum reveals the Bahamas' most notorious buccaneers through interactive exhibits, campsites and clothing. Meander along the boardwalk past replica sailing ships, learn about the punishment of being marooned, and hear tales of the Golden Age of Piracy, which lasted from 1690 until 1720.
This tour is designed to be accessible for all, using step-free routes, shorter distances, accessible bathrooms and vehicles equipped with a ramp or lift for easy wheelchair access.
