Friendsgiving, the low-key alternative to Thanksgiving, only joined the holiday scene a few years ago, but it’s quickly become one of the country’s most popular fall traditions—nearly eclipsing Thanksgiving itself. You’ve no doubt heard of it, and may celebrate it yourself, but this year the trend is going big—and going to sea.
Royal Caribbean is hosting the first Friendsgiving on board Harmony of the Seas, the world’s largest cruise ship. We’ve got all the basics covered—there will be friends, good food and drink, plus post-feast games and competitions—and a whole lot more. This historic event will make a splash, from the original menu designed by our innovative chefs to dance-worthy entertainment provided by a famous pop and funk band.
Here’s what we’ve got cooking for our first Royal Friendsgiving: The party will take place on board Harmony of the Seas, off the coast of Florida on November 11, 2016. Our chefs are creating a special Friendsgiving menu to mark the occasion, complete with a signature cocktail and themed dessert.
To cap off this incredible meal, we’ve invited DNCE (fresh off their win for “Best New Artist” at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards) to perform a concert on board. When was the last time you finished dessert with a little surfing? While on board, guests can ride the FlowRider surf simulator, or check out the zip lines, waterslides, and the Ultimate Abyss, Harmony’s signature 10-story slide (the largest at sea). Check out what else the most adventurous ship has to offer here.
To follow the ultimate Friendsgiving, watch our Facebook Live November 11 on Thrillist’s Facebook page. Also, be sure to follow RoyalCaribbean’s Instagram and Snapchat, both @RoyalCaribbean, which will be the place to go for behind-the-scenes highlights with DNCE.
