With 2,894 springs, Beppu is home to the second-largest volume of hot water in the world - after Yellowstone National Park in the United States. After taking a dip in hot water or being buried in naturally heated sand, sample traditional Japanese delicacies, browse for souvenirs and explore the surrounding mountains and volcanoes.
