Beginning in the historic seaside village of Akaroa is the Banks Peninsula Track. Open through the spring and summer every year from October 1 to April 30, the private track provides a unique eco-tourism experience, one filled with diverse wildlife, scenery and hospitality. The Banks Peninsula Track crosses farmland and the Hinewai reserve, covering 35 km of spectacular volcanic coastline, native bush, waterfalls and sandy beaches.
