The tiny harbor town of Vaitape is a great place to shop for t-shirts and trinkets and is only a short walk from the dock. If you're treasure hunting for black pearls, you'll find some for sale here or you can seek out the other shops around the island that specialize in the glamorous gemstone.

Fish and fruit are the stars here - you'll find them prepared with French flavors and Polynesian accents. If you're looking for a romantic dinner for two make sure to call ahead.
