We give Ocean Fund grants to facilitate research, education and conservation - especially for projects that support strategic partnering. We're always interested in innovative new approaches.
We're seeking projects that will have a clear benefit to local communities and/or will support regional or national non-government organizations (NGOs) to help ensure the survival of a species or preserve coastal or marine habitat.
We prefer to support projects where an organization has lined up other funding sources for the project as well, although matching grants are not required.
The Ocean Fund does not cover overhead in its grants.
An invitation to send a proposal is not a guarantee of funding.
How to apply
The first step to request a grant is to email a 1- to 2-page letter of interest to jennifersmith@rccl.com by June 30 with the following information:
Brief description of your organization and confirmation that you are a 501(C)3 organization or are submitting your application via a 501C3 organization
City/state where your organization is based
Your organization's Web page address, and email and phone contact info from the person submitting the letter
Brief description of the project and the amount that you are seeking from us
Geographic areas served by the project
Ocean Fund advisors evaluate the letters of interest and we will make any follow-up inquiries as needed.
By July 30, all applicants are notified of their status. If your organization is selected to apply for an Ocean Fund grant, we'll send you our proposal form (we require a specific format.)
Proposals are usually due by September 15, and organizations receive notification as to their status the following January.
