Take a short ride through the resort town Mount Maunganui and into the beautiful New Zealand countryside. You’re on your way to Hobbiton.
The Hobbiton movie set had been returned to its natural state after the “Lord of the Rings” movies had been filmed. However, the set has been rebuilt permanently for filming of The Hobbit and features hobbit holes with their wonderful exteriors, The Green Dragon Inn, Mill, bridge and gardens. You’ll enjoy a guided tour to explore the Hobbiton Movie Set and village, where Bilbo Baggins lived and the quest for the ring began. Have your photo taken in front of a hobbit hole or by the pond while your guide entertains you with the stories and insider dish about filming these Hollywood blockbusters in New Zealand.
There are spectacular views across to the Kaimai Ranges from the rolling green hills of the movie set, which is still a working sheep and beef farm.
Then relax and soak up this unique atmosphere with a great cup of coffee and a sweet treat at the Green Dragon Inn. The gift shop features a number of souvenirs related to the films to remind you of your visit.
