Full Description: Take a short ride through the resort town Mount Maunganui and into the beautiful New Zealand countryside. You’re on your way to Hobbiton. Your knowledgeable guide will escort you through the ten-acre site where part of the ‘Lord of the Rings’ was filmed. Your guide will explain where the sites were located, how the scenes were created and what took place during filming. Though much of Hobbiton has been returned to its natural state after filming was completed, many of the physical features such as the hobbit holes and some structures from the film set are still in place. Morning or afternoon tea will be served.
Following Hobbiton you’ll drive through a working sheep farm with spectacular views across the Kaimai Ranges. You’ll have the opportunity to explore the farm and see some of the animals up close.
