Charlottetown Walking Tour - EI27

Walk along the waterfront and through the heritage district of Charlottetown, giving you a wonderful, historic overview of the province's capital on this walking tour. Your guide will meet you at the pier, where your walking tour will begin.  Being right in the heart of this historic town, the largest in the province of Prince Edward Island, there is much to discover.  During your city orientation, you will hear about the founding families and see some of their original homes, typically made of wood, sandstone or brick. At the Province House National Historic Site, you will discover how Canada was formed.

Overview: Walk along Charlottetown's waterfront and through the heritage district and get a solid, historic overview of the province's capital. Your guide will meet you at the pier and head right to the heart of this historic town. You will hear about the founding families, see some of their original homes and discover how Canada was formed. Your tour concludes at Founder's Hall where you can choose to explore the town or walk back to pier.
Highlights: Site of Charlottetown: British Captain Samuel Holland named the settlement in honor of Queen Charlotte, wife of George III. Province House: Learn how Canada became a federation, and how Charlottetown became the birthplace of a nation. Founder's Hall: Visit this restored heritage building on Charlottetown's waterfront and learn more about Canada's history since its founding.
