This tour visits the lush Botanical Gardens of Cartagena located near the village of Turbaco. Discover why the German Scientist Humbolt did so much of his botanical research in Colombia. These amazing gardens occupy an area of 20 acres and contain some 1200 species and varieties representing the flora of the region. Created in 1978, the gardens have grown with thousands of plants varieties donated and replanted from all over the Caribbean coast. Enjoy a relaxing self-guided walk through the gardens following the numbered informative guide signs. Among others, you'll find lake plants and Xerophytic, Arboterum, Paimentum, and Medical gardens, as well as many varieties of fruit trees. You're also sure to see colourful butterflies and tropical birds flying about during your visit.
On your return to the pier, you'll enjoy a panoramic photo stop of the impressive San Felipe de Barajas Fortress.
