After meeting your guide/driver and boarding your transportation travel north along the scenic coastline and view Bonaire’s flora and fauna with huge candelabra cacti, trees, ocean view and the uninhabited island Klein Bonaire. Driving further over the hill “Alta Mira UnJo” and enjoy the panorama view of the fertile Rincon valley. The valley was the home of the Arawak Indians which most likely arrived by boat from the South American mainland more than a thousand years ago, bringing their artwork and culture with them to the small island.  Later the Spanish settled and today it is still a quiet, tranquil village where the history and culture of its people are reflected in their faces. Many of the traditions are alive and celebrated with great fanfare and festivities. Together with local guides you walk or drive through the charming village to discover the history, culture and architecture to feel the way of life in earlier times.

See the house of “Unnapadi Historia”, the churches, the location of Credit Union, the “Kas di Krioyo” and visit the “Cadushy” (Cactus) distillery.
A short bus ride will bring you further high on a hill to the “Mangazina di Rei”. The Mangazina (1824) was used by the Dutch government to store provisions for the slaves. The second oldest stone building on Bonaire now forms part of a cultural park where young and elder Bonairean’s are working together to keep their traditional customs alive. A guided tour through the cultural park includes a showcase of the indigenous culture with interactive activities which allows guests to learn more about the Bonairean way of life. Listen to the stories that bring our heritage alive, play Creole instruments, dance and enjoy a traditional cooking demonstration. Experience what everyday life was like for the early people of Bonaire. Re-board your transportation which will return you to the cruise ship pier.

This tour is designed for those guests who are full-time wheelchair users or who have walking difficulties. Minimum age to participate is 6 years.
