Canoe ride through Mangrove tunnels drive through the walled city and stop of San Felipe fortress without stepping out. Enjoy the beautiful flora and fauna that encompasses this fascinating ecosystem as you are taken by canoe to navigate the lush mangrove swamps.

Your unique ecological tour starts with a panoramic view of the San Felipe de Barajas Fortress situated outside the historic walled city. This monumental fort is considered to be the most outstanding feat of Spanish military engineering in the new world. Its construction began in 1536 and finished 121 years later.

After a brief panoramic drive through the walled city, you will continue to the Cueva Del Manglar.  Here, your experienced guide will treat you to a delightful navigation by canoe through lush mangrove swamp tunnels to the Cienaga de la Virgen.  A great diversity of birds such as kings fishers, white herons, the common laura, pink spatula and pelicans can be found.  A refreshing drink will be served before returning to the pier.
