This tour gives you the opportunity to explore the Bodrum Peninsula, Gumusluk and a part of the inland. The town of Bodrum, known as Halicarnassus, was home to the Mausoleum, one of the ‘Seven Wonders of the Ancient World’. Your tour begins with a drive to Gumusluk, a traditional fishing village located on the western peninsula.

Enjoy some free time to relax here in the peaceful surroundings or stroll along the shoreline and the beach. After exploring Gumusluk your tour will continue to Dereköy. An interesting workshop of one of the most important traditional Anatolian arts will be the highlight of the day: Feltmaking; one of the oldest textile traditions. In Anatolia, felt is still produced for making saddlecloths, rugs, and hangings.

This tour shows how much effort and patience is put into the art. Patterning, kicking the wool, feltmaking machines, and the making of arakiye (bowl-style hat), kepenek (shepherd’s cloak) and sikke (dervish hat). You will see how a tubular piece of felt is made for the cloak. Detailed patterns are placed on the rugs and the coats by laying in dyed pieces of fleece. With patience and great effort the most beautiful examples of this art will be reflected on scarfs, dresses, shoes, cloaks, pictures, curtains, pillow cases, door ornaments, flask covers, flowers, prayer rugs, kelims, rugs, table cloths, runners, pendants, necklaces, shawls, lambshades, book covers and bottle covers. After the implementation show; homemade typical local drinks and a snack will be served. Conclude your day with an opportunity to join a fashion show in a leather outlet where you will have the chance to see the latest and extensive quality while enjoying your refreshments for a brief period.

Note: Guests must be able to walk approximately 0.5 mile, optional during free time in Gumusluk, thus guests need to watch their step at all times. Comfortable clothing, hat and sunscreen are recommended. Insect repellent is also recommended in July and August. The order of the tour itinerary may vary between coaches and/or groups in order to avoid congestion at the sites. Guests are requested to be on time for the return vehicle as a courtesy to their fellow participants. If guests should miss the vehicle, the return to the vessel is their own responsibility and at their own expense.
