Experience Key West's distinctive architecture, history, and culture on this entertaining and informative tour. You will meet your knowledgeable local guide at the cruise ship pier who will chat about the colorful island on the short strolls between destinations. Each of these National Register properties has fascinating associations with international names and the rich history of Key West.
The tour begins with a stroll along the beautiful tree lined streets of Truman Annex where you will see magnificent homes and exotic plants including several large Banyan trees. The tour continues past Heritage House, the Porter Mansion, and the Oldest House.
A one block walk past distinguished Victorian homes brings you to the Curry Mansion, a magnificent structure created by the riches of Florida's first millionaire. It's also where the first Key Lime pie was created, legend has it, by the Curry's servant Aunt Sally. Your next step is Simonton Court’s colorful gardens. A short walk brings you to the Old Town Manor where you will tour their pristine garden.
A final two block stroll brings you to the Audubon House, filled with unusual European furnishings from shipwrecks and original “Birds of America” engravings surrounded by an acre of tropical Key West gardens. Tea is served in the spacious botanical garden.
The excursion ends across the street from the ship pier, and in the midst of shops and further attractions. The shady areas of seating will appeal to those who wish to rest before taking on further explorations of Old Town Key West.
