Meet your guide at the ship and receive your gear along with a demonstration of Nordic Walking techniques. After brief warm-up exercises, begin your relaxed approximately 5 mile walk into the center of Helsinki passing along dedicated walking paths, past city parks, waterfront districts, residential and commercial areas. Along the way you will see the Market Square, Senate Squrare and green park area,the Parliament and the Contemporary Art Museum, Kiasma. Conclude at the downtown Shuttle Bus stop and return directly to the ship, or remain independently in the city.

Developed in Finland by off-season Cross Country Skiers, Nordic Walking makes use of specially designed walking poles which engage the upper body, providing a total body workout.
Meet your guide at the ship and receive your gear along with a demonstration of the simple techniques involved in Nordic Walking. With small groups of maximum 15 other guests the guide can give his full attention to all participants during the tour. After brief warm-up exercises, begin your approximately 5 mile relaxed walk (depending on the group's fitness) into the center of Helsinki passing along dedicated walking paths, past city parks, waterfront districts, residential and commercial areas.
Follow your guide beyond the industrial pier and the shipyard, past a marina and a residential area before picking up the pace along the scenic waterfront area. You will walk through Kaivopuisto Park and see exclusive waterfront properties and embassies located in the area. From a distance you can even see the Suomenlinna Island Fortification. Next you will arrive to the Market Square and enjoy the colorful sights and sounds of one the most popular tourist attractions of the city. Continue your walk to the Senate Square with the Lutheran Cathedral making your way to a green park area where many of the citys popular summer concerts are organized. Along your way you will see the Parliament and the Contemporary Art Museum, Kiasma, as you wind down your activity and enter the downtown area finally coming to the end of your walk. Conclude at the downtown Shuttle Bus stop and return directly to the ship, or you may choose to remain and independently enjoy more of the city sights at your own pace. Your guide will collect your Nordic Walking Poles should you decide to remain in the city.
Note: Total walking time is approximately 2 hours covering approximately 5 miles, dependent upon group's speed, fitness and ability. Guests must be in good physical condition, wear sturdy, low heeled, comfortable walking or hiking shoes and comfortable, loose clothing are recommended. Nordic Walking Poles included. Participants should be aware that there are certain inherent risks involved in any hiking/walking excursion. Participants must be at least 60 inches ( 5 feet/152 cm ) in height. A parent or guardian must accompany children under the age of 16 years. This tour will operate in all weather conditions so participants should take appropriate weather gear with them, carry a backpack for belongings and take bottled water with them to stay hydrated during the walk. Tour order may vary between groups but covering all mentioned sites.
