Trafalgar Falls and Sulphur Springs - RO42
Travel easterly along the winding mountain road to the tranquil little village of Trafalgar to view The Trafalgar Falls. Proceed to the Wotton Waven Sulphur Springs. Witness these springs, when active come alive in a spectacular bubbling motion spewing volcanic hot water in the air. You drive to Chez Ophelia for refreshments and convenience before visiting the Botanical Gardens, adorned with exotic flora. Visit Morne Bruce (picture stop). Morne Bruce is an ideal vantage point from which to get a panoramic view of the entire town of Roseau and the Botanical Gardens. You then drive back to the ship.
The tour departs the quayside and travels along King George V Street turning south unto Independence Street and then heads easterly along the winding mountain road to the tranquil little village of Trafalgar to view one of Dominica’s most magnificent sites, the Trafalgar Falls. From the falls you proceed down the valley to the village of Wotton Waven to visit the sulphur springs. These springs, when active come alive in a spectacular bubbling motion spewing volcanic hot water in the air. A familiar pungent odor of sulphur envelopes the environment and passengers can see the water bubbling/boiling out of the ground. Water can be scolding hot and passengers must exercise caution. Imagine an egg can be cooked in the hot springs in five minutes.
Leaving the springs you drive to Chez Ophelia, a homely little bed and breakfast nestled on the tranquil mountainside for drinks and convenience before you take a relaxing drive to visit the Botanical Gardens, adorned with exotic plants and beautiful flowers. You then drive on to Historical Morne Bruce. Morne Bruce is an ideal vantage point from which to get a panoramic view of the entire town of Roseau and the Botanical Gardens. Leaving Morne Bruce You head back to the ship.
