This tour is designed for guests who would like to enjoy free time to relax under the sun and/or swim surrounded by the great dunes of the natural park of the lagoon.
-Explore the dunes of the natural park of the lagoon and the beauty of El Saler beach on your own (approximately 2.5 hours free time)
Board your coach for an approximate 30 minute transfer from the ship to enjoy the sun and fine golden sand of El Saler beach. Almost five kilometers in length, El Saler belongs to the municipality of Valencia. Located in the natural park of the lagoon, its greatest attraction is its extraordinary natural surroundings.
The Mallada is a temporary Mediterranean pond existing between sand dunes that protects a rich ecosystem. Intermingled with vegetation such as pines, palmitos, coscojas, lentisco, and madreselva, it provides shelter to native and endemic species of birds. The malladas dunes were recently restored after 70 years' destruction resulting from urban development efforts. The urbanization project was abandoned thanks to local opposition. Ongoing efforts continue to regenerate dunes and to create a natural lake that serves as a reserve for the birds on the southern side of the beach. The National Inn of the Saler and its golf course are in close proximity to where the future lake is predicted. The Gullet of Perellonet, another channel, separates the beach from the Perellonet. To the north, the beach is adjacent to the Gullet of Pujol, a channel that connects the Lagoon with the sea. The Lake of Pujol (val. l'Estany of Pujol), is an artificial lake in which swimming is prohibited. To the west, the highway from Valencia to the Perellonet separates it from the Lagoon and the Racó of l'Olla.
Swimming is permitted at the El Saler Beach. You will have approximately 2.5 hours free time at the beach to relax under the sun and/or swim. This blue flag beach is safety conscious with its police and rescue services available in summer. At the designated time and place, return for your transfer back to the ship.
