Discover the landmarks representing many political and religious symbols of Marseille's historical and maritime past on a half day tour. HIGHLIGHTS: Visit Notre Dame de la Garde Basilica. Ride along the Kennedy Corniche Road to view the exterior of the monumental Longchamp Palace. Experience the Vieux Port with a stroll through the old harbor and heart of the city. NOTES: Access to Notre Dame de la Garde Basilica involves approximately 200 steps, then the use of an inside lift is sometimes available.

Full Description:
Begin your half-day journey of the historical and maritime past of Marseille with a visit to the "Notre Dame de la Garde" Basilica, with its wonderful views overlooking the city. Proceed to the basilica where numerous "ex-votos" offered by nearly shipwrecked fishermen are presented. Continue by motorcoach along the seaside to the beautiful Kennedy Corniche Road with its architectural surprises. Pass the residences, villas, mansions, and enjoy the splendid views of the elegant If castle and the sea. 

Pause for a photo of the beautiful islands guarding the entrance to Marseille. Continue to "Longchamp Palace" and view the exterior of this monumental castle adorned with magnificent fountains, waterfalls and gardens. Continue your motor coach tour via "La Canebière", the main avenue of the city toward your final stop at "Vieux Port". Stroll the old harbor and heart of the city for magnificent views of St. John and St. Nicholas military forts and the Town Hall. If time permits, there will be free time for shopping before your return to the pier. 

What to Bring: 
-You should always take your SeaPass card (provided onboard the ship) and photo identification when in port.
-Camera and Euros cash for shopping (most stores also accept credit cards)
-Sun protection, sunglasses.  

What to Wear: 
-Strongly recommend wearing light clothing and comfortable walking shoes. 

Important Notes:
-Shops are closed on Sundays and bank holidays.
-Access to Notre Dame de la Garde Basilica involves about 200 steps, then the use of an inside lift is sometimes available.
-Public restrooms are only available at the basilica.
-Due to ongoing refurbishments in Marseille, there will be some traffic congestions.
