This tour takes you into a natural wilderness. Discover the flora and fauna and their habitat located in the beautiful Dragonja valley. With an experienced guide you will be guided trough the trails that wind between the lush green surroundings. Towards the end of the tour, you will make a stop in a traditional village for a taste of local products.
Dragonja is attractive in every season. In the spring, enjoy views of seeping water as it flows through surrounding stones. In the summer, the area is marked with deep green pools before it is marked with deep red bushes in the autumn. Typical for this region, purple foliage is observed in the winter when its valley is covered with frost and the river is trapped in ice. The tour starts with a short coach transfer into the valley, from where your hiking tour will begin. Your guide will provide instruction before starting the hike/walk through nature. The path takes you near the river/spring of Dragonja. It is a protected area, preserved in its original state.
Note: Participants will be required to walk/hike a total of 3 miles over varying terrain. A portion of the route will be uphill so guests should be in good physical condition. . The actual duration of the tour will be dependent upon the physical condition of the group. Low heeled, comfortable walking or hiking shoes and comfortable, loose clothing are recommended. Participants should be aware that there are certain inherent risks involved in any hiking excursion. A parent or guardian must accompany children under the age of 16 years. This tour cannot accommodate children less than 6 years of age. This tour will operate in all weather conditions so participants should take appropriate weather gear with them, carry a backpack for belongings and take bottled water with them to stay hydrated during the hike. Tour escort will greet the group at the pier and transfer to the starting point. Return to the pier will be with the driver only. The drive to/from Dragonja Valley is approximately 45 minutes each way, dependent upon traffic conditions.
