Leaving the port area of Alicante, your tour begins at the Castle of Santa Barbara, an old fortress built during the 16th Century. Inside the Castle, you will admire Iberian archeological findings which demonstrate that people lived there even before the arrival of the Romans. Continue your visit to the most well preserved areas such as the Main Tower (Torre del Homenaje) and the Englishmen's bastions. After the visit to the Castle, buses will drive you down the Explanada de Espana. From there, you will have a short walk to enter the historical center of the city which is closed to cars and arrive at the Town Hall Square. Next to the Town Hall stands the Cathedral of Alicante, better known as Church of San Nicolas de Bari.

You will then visit the "Museo de Fogueres". View sculptures made of plaster and paper mache from different time periods which refer to the festivities of St. John and the summer solstice. You will have independent time to explore on your own before heading back to the ship.

Note: Guests must be able to walk approximately 0.5 mile over varying surfaces and steps. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
