Your tour begins with a 90-minute drive from Civitavecchia to Rome passing through the Etruscan countryside with pleasant views of the Tyrrhenian Sea. Once in Rome, your coach will pass by the Vatican walls, which define the area of the Vatican City; the Lungotevere; and the Ara Pacis. You will proceed to the old Roman walls, the famous Villa Borghese, Porta Pinciana and into the old town. You will see Via Veneto, the symbol of the Italian dolce vita; Piazza Venezia; the Colosseum; the Arch of Constantine; and the Circus Maximus.
You will arrive at St. Peter’s Basilica area where you will have approximately 45 minutes of free time to explore the famous St. Peter’s Square. You’ll later meet with your guide at a designated time and place to rejoin the coach for the return to the ship.
During the bus ride to Rome, you will be provided with a map of Rome and emergency contact numbers in the unlikely event you become separated from the group. During the excursion you will receive a bottled water.
What to Bring:
-You should always take your SeaPass card (provided onboard the ship) and photo identification when in port.
-Camera and cash for shopping.
What to Wear:
-Comfortable walking shoes are strongly recommended.
-A strict dress code is enforced in St. Peter’s Basilica. Short pants, tank tops and revealing clothing are not acceptable. Guests wearing these items may be restricted from entering.
-The drive between Civitavecchia and Rome is approximately 1 1/2 hours each way, subject to traffic conditions.
-This tour is designed for guests with walking difficulties or using a wheelchair. The vehicle used on this excursion is adapted with an access ramp (or lift where available) to accommodate a very limited number of wheelchairs. This tour is not available online; guests interested in this tour must present themselves to the Shore Excursions Desk onboard the ship to check availability and departure times. Guests wishing to use a wheelchair on this excursion must provide the Shore Excursions Desk with the total dimensions (height, length and width).
For safety reasons, it is highly recommended to Guests the use of a manual wheelchair. Guests on a scooter/motorized wheelchair will be accommodated only if the scooters/motorized wheelchairs are in compliance with the ramp/lift of the adapted vehicle and only if the characteristics of the scooters/motorized wheelchairs allow to safely secure them once on board the vehicle. Should not be possible to safely secure the scooters/ motorized wheelchair once on board the adapted vehicle, Guests will be denied joining the tour.

-Guests needing special assistance must be accompanied by an able bodied companion.
-Guests are advised that long queues to enter St. Peter’s Basilica are to be expected.

-Should St. Peter's Basilica have a mass service, entrance may be restricted.
-Depending upon the number of people in the basilica, it may be closed for security reasons without previous notice. These safety precautions are beyond the control of the local tour operator.
-The order of the tour may be reversed or altered depending on traffic or local conditions.
-On Sundays and public holidays, the majority of the shops will be closed and only souvenir shops will be open.
