See the key city sights, hills, bays and beaches in and around the city of Noumea from the comfort of a coach.
From the passenger terminal at the port, your driver will take you through the city center and past the park-like central plaza, the Place des Cocotiers, filled with swaying palms. You’ll ascend to the F.O.L. building, to admire the panoramic views and take photos of St. Joseph’s Cathedral, built in the 19th century by convict labor, the downtown area, the marina and your ship.
The tour continues through some of Noumea’s oldest residential neighborhoods, including the Faubourg Blanchot, with its enchanting colonial homes and flowering gardens. You’ll travel along the picturesque waterfront Promenade Vernier before stopping at the Ouen Toro lookout for another photo stop. From this one-time defensive position – canons are still in place – you’ll enjoy some of the best views on New Caledonia’s lagoon, incredible bays and beaches.
You’ll continue along the waterfront to Baie des Citrons (Lemon Bay), a sheltered beach that is popular with locals and visitors alike, the yacht marina, Orphelinat Bay and governmental buildings en route back to the ship.
